You are invited to attend a brainstorming session on the revision of the ISO 25964 standard for Controlled Vocabularies including taxonomies, thesauri, and related knowledge organization systems. This standard was first created in 1974 and has been reaffirmed several times. Much has changed in the taxonomy world since its first creation in 1993 as the British Standards Institute 8723 and the American National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Z39.19 which is part of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
Please help us understand the potential directions and suggest changes to the current standard to make it versatile and supportive of industry directions for the future.
