The theme of this year's conference is Why Ethics Matter.
The 15th GW Ethics in Publishing Conference will be held as a hybrid event with in-person and virtual presentations and attendees, at the George Washington University Arlington Education Center, in Arlington, VA (Washington, DC metro area) and online, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with a possible second half day on Friday, October 10th.
We are soliciting conference presentations from (and for) publishing and library professionals, scholars, faculty, and students on topics including but not limited to:
• Navigating challenges of peer review
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Research Integrity
• Measuring success by impact
• Publishing equity: workplace and practice
• Impact of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility efforts
• Multilingualism
• Accessibility efforts and impact
• Environmental sustainability and publishing
• Funding and grant writing
• Inclusive practices in language editing and design
• Community-centered peer review practices
• Demographics of university press /scholarly publishing-staff, authors, reviewers, & editorial boards
• Author outreach and education
• Editorial board policies and representation
• Book banning and censorship
• International partnerships between presses in developed & developing economies
• Author integrity (plagiarism, etc.)
We welcome proposals from professionals, students, researchers, scholars, and enthusiasts of publishing, library and information science, scholarly communication, authorship, media studies, and all fields with an interest in ethics in publishing. Alumni and current students in the GW Publishing program are invited to present their Ethics in Publishing Capstone projects or other research. Students and alumni of other graduate and undergraduate publishing and library science programs are invited to submit a proposal and share their research.
Presentations will include invited speakers, multiple speaker panels, and short presentations.

42 publishing and library professionals and students in 22 sessions, and nearly 700 attendees.
We encourage you to endeavor to attend in person if possible, but we understand this is not always possible. We are unfortunately not able to defray travel expenses. Presenters who are unable to travel to the conference site are able to present virtually.
Submit your Presentation Proposal by June 30th.
We will endeavor to accommodate as many presentations as possible. We may group your presentation with other similar topics by other presenters. Presentations will range from 15-40 minutes.
