Hi all, a quick reminder/update about the NISO Plus Forum-a new in-person event at the AGU office in Washington, DC on September 20 (perfect timing for anyone who's planning to attend the SSP New Directions seminar!).
We've worked with professional facilitator and NISO Board member, Jonathan Clark, to develop a day of World Cafe style workshop discussions and activities, focused on three core aspects of metadata - structures, exchange, and identifiers. This will give everyone a chance to work with everyone else - great for in-person networking and collaboration, as well as increasing your understanding of the issues from a wide range of perspectives. To ensure that we keep user needs front and center of our discussions, you'll also hear from three researchers with very different perspectives- Ana Heredia (former researcher, now a consultant), Dr. Kathryn Kaiser (University of Alabama, Birmingham), and Dr. Diana Marsh (University of Maryland).
Registration is now open and, thanks to the support of AGU and our other sponsors, we have been able to keep the cost of registration to $199 for members and $249 for non-members. We also encourage you to support the SSP Generations Fund, by purchasing a ticket for a fundraising event taking place on AGU's rooftop terrace on the evening of September 20.
This is something a bit new for NISO and I'm really excited about it - I hope to see some of you there!
